Teaching

Versatility & Diversity.

Mallory teaches a broad range of dance genres spanning from ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, acrobatics, dance conditioning, & more.

She has experience teaching students ages 2-18 years old at K-12 studios; untrained youth dancers [dance in community work]; and adult/teacher classes. Inclusivity is a core value of hers - she expects that equity & respect are upheld in the classroom for all. She believes that a culturally diverse classroom is critical to student learning. Diversity opens the door to new perspective and community building.

Mallory is a frequent guest teacher for master classes & summer intensives at studios throughout MI, and has taught at regional & national conventions. She is currently employed as an instructor at The Dance Shoppe, where she has taught for five years.

Values.

As a teacher, Mallory values the process of dance training over the product of performance.

She is determined to guide her students not just toward becoming the best dancers they can be, but the best people they can be. Mallory embraces her students exactly as they are and creates space for them to express themselves freely. Her teaching methods are grounded in principals of feminist pedagogy - she encourages class discussion, student contribution to class material, and creative exploration.
